Chapter 1

Ana crawled out of her window, and sat on the roof. She liked to stare at the sunset before it settled behind the trees. It was always such a sad moment; the fire being extinguished.

Ana's little sister, Ella, who was four years younger, nine, crawled onto the roof with her. A slight breeze blew through the air, making Ella's straight blonde hair and Ana's wavy brown hair flutter. Ella quickly fixed her bangs, and muttered, "Urg."

Ana gave a small chuckle, and sighed, again gazing out into the sunset.

"Ana?" Ella asked. "Why do you always get so sad when the sun goes down?"

"I don't know, Ella. It's kind of like something good and sweet dying." Ana explained, nearly forgetting that she was talking to Ella, and just speaking her thoughts out loud.

"But the sun will be back tomorrow." Ella reminded Ana, curious.

"It won't be the same sun. It will be older, different." Ana said, trying to explain her thoughts to a nine-year-old. "Even so, when the different one dies, I will still miss it."

Ella sighed, reflectingly on their conversation. They both stared into space for a while.

The sun disappeared behind the trees. The sky was dark. The day had died. A new one would come, but it would not be this one.
